SA: Basadi in Music Awards expand to two nights | Music In Africa
The expanded format aims to recognise not only the visible stars who grace the stage but also the often-overlooked technical and production professionals who play vital roles behind the scenes.
According to organisers, the first evening will introduce the inaugural Vanguard Awards, an exclusive, invite-only event dedicated to honouring the unsung heroines of the music sector. Categories such as Artist Manager of the Year and Radio Producer of the Year will be presented, spotlighting the industry visionaries whose behind-the-scenes work helps drive the success of South Africa’s musical landscape.
The second evening will continue as the grand Music Award Night, celebrating the artists, performers and creatives who are breaking boundaries and inspiring future generations. Unlike the first night, this celebration will be open to the public, with early bird tickets now available here. Each ticket includes a meal and pre-drinks.
This year’s awards will be presented under the theme Symphony of Harmony: The Four Elements of Nature – Earth, Water, Fire and Air – with each element representing a unique creative force:
Guests are encouraged to express the theme through their attire, embracing bold colours and textures that reflect their chosen element.
“The growth of the Basadi in Music Awards is a testament to the increasing recognition of women’s influence in both creative and technical fields,” BIMAs founder and CEO Hloni Modise Matau said. “Expanding to two nights allows us to shine an even brighter light on those working tirelessly behind the scenes, while still maintaining the grand celebration of musical excellence.”
