During a church service in Roysambu on Sunday, March 2, Ruto recalled how he intervened to resolve the issues between Nairobi County and the Kenya Power and Lightning Company (KPLC).

The president explained to the congregation how he made a phone call to Sakaja and KPLC officials, asking them to resolve their differences.

Ruto lauded Sakaja and described him as a strong and courageous leader for having the grace to apologise for dumping garbage outside the Stima Plaza in a retaliatory attack

"I want to thank Governor Sakaja. Recently they made a mistake. I called this Governor and also called the others and told them they had to stop this thing. I'm grateful the Governor apologised because a mistake was made and it takes a courageous strong leader to say 'I'm sorry,'" Ruto said.

The president promised to support Sakaja's efforts to make the city strong, adding that only strong leaders can have the courage to apologise whenever they make mistakes.

"Governor, congratulations for apologising. We must now pick up from there and move forward together as a city to build a strong city and a strong nation," he added.
