Roundup: State CHSAA girls golf and Class A girls lacrosse titles, plus more playoff scores - Newsday

Emilia Parlow shot 7-over-par 79 at Lancaster Country Club in Buffalo to win the state CHSAA girls golf championship on Monday. The St. Anthony’s freshman had a 5-over 42 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine to secure her first state championship.

Sophia Virgilio had seven goals in St. John the Baptist’s win over Nichols in the Catholic Class A championship at Canisius University, earning back-to-back state titles. Virgilio scored her 100th point of the season, Ella Treacy added one goal and five assists and Anna French had two goals. Khloe Maravilla made five saves.

Madison Wade had five goals and one assist and Lia Villari had four goals to lead No. 6 Plainedge over No. 3 North Shore in the Nassau Class C girls lacrosse quarterfinals. Jillian Mauersberger made six saves for Plainedge (12-4). Alexandra Basile had four goals and one assist for North Shore (6-11). Plainedge will face No. 2 Wantagh at Adelphi University on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the semifinals.

Sophia Deifel had four goals and an assist in No. 5 Lynbrook’s win over No. 4 Seaford in the quarterfinals in the Nassau Class C playoffs. Lynbrook (12-4) will face No. 1 South Side on Wednesday in the semifinals. Seaford finished 3-14.

Isabella Sandoval had eight goals and two assists in No. 2 Wantagh’s win over No. 7 Bethpage in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class C playoffs. Riley Forthofer had three goals and nine assists and Juliana Cerasi had 13 draw controls. Wantagh (8-9) will face No. 6 Plainedge in the semifinals at Adelphi on Wednesday. Bethpage ended 9-7.

Andrew Buscaglia’s fourth goal came as time expired to lift No. 8 Ward Melville past No. 9 Floyd in the first round of the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Bohdan McLaughlin assisted on Buscaglia’s winner and scored a goal of his own. Quinn McKay scored two goals. Jason Biondi made 10 saves. Geo Alvarez scored three goals for Floyd (10-7). Ward Melville (8-9) will visit No. 1 Half Hollow Hills on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Dillon Halloran won 19 faceoffs in No. 7 Sachem North’s win over No. 10 Lindenhurst in the first round of the Suffolk A playoffs. Brayden Tappin had six goals and an assist. Steven Castellano scored five goals. Thomas Keggan had two goals and four assists. Lucas Bouchard added four goals. Sachem North (13-4) will visit No. 2 Northport at 4 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals. Lindenhurst finished 9-8.

Kayden Bates went 1-for-1 and had four stolen bases, including a steal of home in the sixth inning, to lead No. 4 Long Island Lutheran over No. 1 Dalton in the NYSAIS semifinals. Cameron Coco went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Long Island Lutheran (11-9) will play Fieldston (Bronx) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at SUNY Purchase in the finals.

Nicholas Taranto went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in No. 4 Carey’s win over No. 5 Division in the double elimination round robin of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Jacob Daddino pitched two innings to earn the save. Carey (17-5) will face Division at 4:30 pm Wednesday for Game 3 of the round robin.

Matt Kind’s RBI double scored Jason Berthel in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead No. 3 Seaford over No. 2 Clarke in the first of a three-game series in the Nassau Class A baseball quarterfinals. Tom Apollo went five innings with eight strikeouts and gave up four hits and six walks. Jordan Cassuto earned the two-inning save with one strikeout, allowing one hit. Seaford (15-7) will visit Clarke (18-4) for Game 3 on Tuesday.

Justin Alas had a hit to score Connor O’Brien in the bottom of the eighth to lead No. 1 Oyster Bay over No. 4 East Rockaway in the first of a three-game series in the Nassau Class B baseball semifinals. Liam Gorney scored Nick Kartsonis with a hit to tie the score at 4. East Rockaway will visit Oyster Bay for Game 3 on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Nicolette Ferraro pitched a complete game and delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning in No. 2 Syosset’s win over No. 3 Oceanside in the semifinals of the Nassau Class AAA playoffs. Sienna Renny had two doubles, two runs scored, two stolen bases and three RBIs. Saanvi Dhupar went 3-for-3 and Taylor Renny went 2-for-3. Syosset (16-5) will face Oceanside at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Game 2.
