Rihanna has not released new music since Anti in 2016. However, the pop sensation has clarified that new music is coming. While this might not happen for a while, Rihanna has promised her fans a quality album reflecting her creative journey. Referred to by fans as R9, Rihanna states that her upcoming album will differ from her previous work.

“Not going to be anything that anybody expects,” Rihanna told Harper’s Bazaar.

In her recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the singer spoke about how she has been experimenting with different ideas. However, she has been struggling to find a style that matches her current personnel and creative growth. ‘‘No, it’s not me. It’s not right. It’s not matching my growth,” Rihanna told the publication.

The singer also wants the album to be flawless, which has left fans excited. When discussing her creative process with the publication, the singer stated ”after a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears. It has to count. It has to matter.”

Despite the fact that new music is coming, the singer has been transparent about the fact that R9 probably won’t be released for some time. However, fans are excited about the new levels of emotional and creative depth she is promising from this unreleased album.
