Gachagua stated that alongside other leaders, they are committed to liberating the country from Ruto's administration.
According to Gachagua, the opposition will make whatever sacrifices necessary to ensure Ruto is a one-term president.
"Rigathi Gachagua: I want to give my commitment that we are part of this team and we will walk this journey together to liberate this country and we shall make whatever sacrifices necessary to make sure that William Ruto is a one term President," Gachagua said.
The former deputy president accused Ruto of betraying people who took him to the State House during the hotly contested 2022 presidential race.
"President William Ruto has a very short memory. This team here we sat with him in my house and we assured him that he would be President and we will do whatever it takes to make sure he is President. We took him to State House and when he reached there, he put aside everything we had agreed on about how we need Kenya to be. We had agreed on the bottom-up economic model of putting money into people’s pockets. The minute he reached State House he changed course, got a small team of economic advisors and came up with a very brutal program of removing whatever little money was in people’s pockets from their pockets," he added.
Gachagua was attending the launch of the new DAP-K headquarters in Karen, Nairobi.
The former deputy president was accompanied by his close allies from the Mt Kenya region, such as Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba.
Elsewhere, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi predicted a shift in political dynamics ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a tweet on Monday, December 9, Amisi claimed President William Ruto might not survive in the next election.
According to Amisi, many Kenyans are unhappy with the Kenya Kwanza administration to the point of wanting to fund any candidate capable of removing Ruto from power.
The ODM lawmaker argued that President Ruto is slowly losing popularity in various parts of the country.
He suggested that the populous Mt. Kenya region is no longer with Ruto after his messy divorce with the former deputy president.
