Real Madrid ace Kylian Mbappe reflected on his first season at the Bernabeu after being voted his club’s best player in 2024/2025. Furthermore, he revealed that he and his teammates are looking forward to playing the Club World Cup in the United States this summer.

Mbappe has just concluded his first season in Los Blancos colors after completing a high profile free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Initially encountering teething problems in his first few months, not helped by having to adapt to a new position, he went on to become Europe and Spain’s top goalscorer in 2024/2025 while one of few highlights in a campaign that lacked major silverware for Madrid.

To add to his Pichichi and Golden Boot gongs then, Mbappe has also been handed the Mahou Five Star Player Award as his team’s standout Galactico this season which prompted him to review the term on the whole.

“This was my first season in Spain, a new experience for me as a player and as a man, so I’m very happy to be here at Real Madrid,” Mbappe remarked.

“I had to adapt to the team, and adapt to the country with a new language - a new culture. Now I think about it I feel very good at the club, in the team, in the city, in the country, and you can see that on the pitch,” he added.

While as said Madrid might not have landed major silverware under the since departed Carlo Ancelotti, it lifted the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup with the Club World Cup next month providing the chance to seal a treble of sorts.

“It’s the first time we’re going to play in a competition like this. It’s something new for us, but we’re also looking forward to it because it’s a new opportunity to be world champions with the club,” Mbappe said about the newly-reimagined 32 team affair, which will take place on American soil.

“It’s a great competition, in the United States, with everyone watching and looking forward to it. As I say, it’s something new for us so we’re going to try to win it,” the Frenchman promised.

Ahead of a fresh La Liga campaign and attempt to dethrone FC Barcelona, new Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso can test the waters at the Club World Cup. In the US, Luka Modric will play his last minutes in his iconic Los Blancos number 10 shirt ahead of moving on.
