MUMBAI: Much to the worry of his numerous fans, star allrounder Ravindra Jadeja did not bowl a single over in
Saurashtra
's innings & 44 run win over Assam at Rajkot in their last Ranji Trophy league match.
However, Saurashtra head coach Niraj Odedra told TOI that Jadeja is "fit & fine," & avoided bowling more to give "an opportunity to the youngsters.”

"Jadeja is absolutely fit and fine. He batted too. It's just that he wasn't needed to bowl in the match, as we were already playing two more left-arm spinners - Dharmendrasinh Jadeja and
Sammar Gajjar
. While Jadeja batted (he scored 19) in the match, he felt that the younger Saurashtra bowlers needed to bowl more to gain experience and confidence ahead of the quarterfinals," Odedra told TOI from Rajkot.
Having guaranteed themselves a spot in the quarterfinals, Saurashtra will most likely play Gujarat in their last eight clash in Rajkot. With 25 points in seven matches, Saurashtra topped
Elite Group D
and, as per the BCCI's new Ranji Trophy rules, earned the right to play their QF clash at home.
