Rangers urged to up Dor Turgeman bid as Maccabi Tel Aviv throw out first Ibrox offer - Football Scotland

Rangers have been told to increase their bid for Dor Turgeman after Maccabi Tel Aviv indicated that £4million offer simply isn't enough.

Record Sport initially disclosed the Light Blues' interest in the 21 year old forward as Russell Martin takes charge of a new chapter at the club.

Turgeman remains a prime target, yet reports from Israel suggest the Israeli title-holders are holding out for more than the sum currently on the table, although Record Sport has learnt that negotiations are still in progress.

According to outlet Israel Hayom, Rangers "will have to significantly increase the amount" if they wish to secure the striker's services.

It's understood that Ibrox scouts have kept tabs on Turgeman for "several months", observing his performances for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League and his international outings for Israel against Estonia and Norway in March.

The article notes that former manager Philippe Clement had a say in the matter, which has since been endorsed by Martin.

With Maccabi Tel Aviv bracing for Turgeman's departure this summer, they've already started scouting for potential replacements.

Gers have also been linked with a shock move for former English Premier League striker Jamie Vardy.

The Leicester legend will be a free agent at the end of the month when he leaves the Foxes and despite turning 38 earlier this year has no plans to retire.

Confirming his Leicester exit last month in an emotional address, Vardy said: "To the fans of Leicester, gutted that this day is coming but I knew it was going to come eventually.

"I've had 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, some downs, but the majority all highs.

"But it's finally time to call it a day, which I'm devastated about but I think the timing is right.

"I just want to sincerely thank you all for taking me in as one of your own. Leicester will always, always have a massive place in my heart and I will make sure that I will be following for the years to come in what I hope will be even more success for the club.

"As for now, this is my goodbye but you will see me again soon, I promise."
