Rainstorm damages homes, disrupts power in Ogun, no casualties reported
A heavy rainstorm has caused significant damage in the Borehole area along Ilogbo Road, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Council of Ogun State, pulling down electricity poles and damaging properties.
A resident, Mr Ikechukwu Christian, told The Guardian via telephone that the rainstorm was intense and left many homes and structures severely damaged.
He explained that several roofs were blown off, fences collapsed, and electricity poles fell, disrupting the power supply in the area. Christian described the incident as terrifying for residents, many of whom watched helplessly as their properties were destroyed. However, he confirmed that no lives were lost.
Commenting on the incident, Ogun State Commissioner for Environment Ola Oresanya described the rainstorm as a national event forecasted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
Oresanya noted that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) would handle the situation and advised affected residents to submit official claims for assistance to the agency.
