Rain eludes Hyd, hits southern parts of state
Hyderabad: Several areas in the state experienced light rainfall on Sunday, particularly in the southern and south-western districts.According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), parts of Jogulamba Gadwal received the highest rainfall of 7.5 mm, followed by Sangareddy (4.5 mm).
Mahabubnagar and Vikarabad witnessed very light precipitation, 2.5 mm.
A few areas in Siddipet, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Nalgonda also recorded light showers. However, many northern and eastern districts, including Hyderabad, Adilabad, Jagtial, Mancherial, and Bhadradri Kothagudem, reported negligible or no rainfall. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, issued a forecast of light to moderate rains or thundershowers to occur at many places across Telangana over the next few days.
Gusty winds were also expected to occur at isolated locations in all the districts. IMD Hyderabad scientist A Sravani told TOI, "The southwest monsoon has completely covered the entire Telangana. Now, it will move towards northern belt of the country and while doing so, it will take a small hiatus due to which parts of Telangana, Maharashtra and nearby regions will experience light rainfall over next few days."
