Karachi Kings won by 23 runs
Karachi Kings marked the return of the Pakistan Super League from suspension with a 23-run win over Peshawar Zalmi.
In the competition's first game since 7 May, the experienced pair of David Warner and James Vince hit 86 and 72 respectively as Kings made 237-4 after being put into bat.
Captain Babar Azam anchored the Peshawar reply, striking 94 from 49 deliveries, but he was unable to see his side home after being run out in the 18th over.
Karachi closed out the final overs of the match, as Peshawar finished on 214-5 in Rawalpindi.
Kings might have thought they were in for an uncomfortable night when Ben McDermott was bowled by Luke Wood from the first ball of the match.
Warner and Vince settled any nerves, putting on a 161-run partnership for the second wicket, ended when the former England batter edged Ali Raza behind in the 15th over.
Captain Warner followed seven balls later, lifting Arif Yaqoob to Saim Ayub at deep mid-wicket, but Khushdil Shah (43 from 15) and Mohammad Nabi (26 from 10) added an unbeaten 70 as Kings set an imposing total.
Peshawar looked in a good position as Babar and Ayub (47 from 31) added their own second wicket pairing of 77, but after the latter found Vince off Abbas Afridi, no other batter passed 20 and Peshawar's challenge tailed away.
They remain in fifth position with eight points, while Karachi sit in second with 12, one less than leaders Quetta Gladiators.
