Global star Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about a disturbing incident from her early career, revealing how she walked out of a film after a director made an inappropriate demand. Speaking at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit, Priyanka recounted how, at just 19, a director insisted on seeing her underwear for a scene, stating, “People will come to the movies to watch her when she shows her panties.” Disgusted by the remark, Priyanka confided in her mother and decided to leave the project, asserting her right to control her own image and career.

The incident occurred when Priyanka was discussing wardrobe details with the director. She recalled, “I was standing right next to him when he picked up the phone and said, ‘People will come to the movies to watch her when she shows her panties. It needs to be really short so that I can see her panties. Those sitting in the front should be able to see her panties.’ And he said it four times. It wasn’t even pretty in Hindi; it was worse.”

Priyanka’s decision to walk away from the film was a defining moment in her career. She shared, “I told my mom, ‘I can’t look at his face. If that’s what he thinks of me, if that’s how small I am, there’s no space for growth.’” The actress emphasized the importance of self-respect and autonomy, stating, “Whatever I decide to be will be my choice. How I want to be perceived will be my choice. Perception is reality, and my perception is going to be my identity.”

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra is gearing up for an exciting lineup of projects. She is set to make her comeback to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s untitled next, co-starring Mahesh Babu.
