Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is set to return to the big screen with his much-anticipated action entertainer Sikandar, releasing on March 30, 2025, coinciding with Eid. However, Sikandar is not the only big release scheduled for this week. The Malayalam blockbuster sequel L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is also hitting theatres this weekend, three days ahead of the festival, on March 27.

At a recent press conference for L2: Empuraan, Prithviraj, who is also the director of the film, addressed the box office clash and extended his best wishes to the Sikandar team. He praised the film’s scale and Salman Khan’s star power, stating, “Sikandar is a huge, huge project. It’s Salman sir, one of the biggest superstars the country has ever seen. And as usual, he is coming on Eid with this banger of a commercial flick with A. R. Murugadoss sir. I wish the team the absolute best. I hope the film goes on to become a blockbuster. I will have no complaints if you watch 11 AM Sikandar and 1 PM Empuraan.”
This upcoming box office clash between a Bollywood mass entertainer and a South Indian blockbuster is set to be one of the most significant of 2025. With both films catering to large fan bases, the competition at the ticket counters will be closely watched. Fans of both industries are eagerly waiting to see how these films perform, making Eid 2025 a major event this year.
Speaking of Sikandar, directed by A. R. Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, features Rashmika Mandanna in a pivotal role. The sequel aims to delve deeper into the storyline of Mohanlal’s character, Stephen Nedumpally, and is expected to be one of the biggest Malayalam releases of the year.
