Pre-monsoon showers arrive, complete onset likely 'within a week'
Jaipur: The meteorological department Saturday said the monsoon's arrival in Rajasthan is anticipated within a week, even as several regions in the state witnessed pre-monsoon showers during the day.
However, certain areas in western Rajasthan continued to experience intense heat conditions. The Met office here said humidity levels would progressively rise in coming days, creating favourable conditions for the monsoon's arrival in Rajasthan.Patan (Sikar) Saturday received rainfall of 20mm, followed by Arnod with 19mm, Shahpura with 18mm, Bhilwara with 17mm, and Bharatpur with 12mm. Places in Udaipur, Kota, and Bharatpur divisions witnessed rainfall varying from 10mm to 5mm.Sriganganagar and Churu were the hottest in the state, with a maximum temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius. In Jaipur, a minimum temperature of 31.2°C was recorded, followed by an afternoon with a maximum temperature of 42.3°C. In the evening, the outskirts of Jaipur witnessed mild to moderate rainfall. The Met office said a dip of almost 4°C was observed across the state. The Met office said the southwest monsoon is likely to enter from the southern parts of the state, from the Kota division, within a week.
