IT was a potpourri of grief, gospel vibes and celebration as the remains of late gospel singer and radio talk show personality, Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, better known as Big Bolaji, was laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State.

  The 50-year-old singer died on April 19 during a brief illness. The burial ceremony, which began on Wednesday, May 28, capped a deeply emotional funeral service that drew family, friends, and notable figures from the gospel music community to honour the late singer’s legacy.

  Prominent gospel artistes, including Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Tosin Bee, and Yetunde Are, joined popular comedian Ayobami Ajewole popularly known as Woli Agba and other well-wishers to pay their last respects to the late gospel singer.

   Highlight of the event was the emotional moment that unfolded as pallbearers carried the casket adorned with flowers into the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre for the lying in state and the tributes.

   A tribute video celebrating the life and musical legacy of the late gospel artiste was played before the mourners, including his family and colleagues moved to the All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido lay him to rest.

  Prior to the burial, several events were held, including a night of praise and tribute on May 18 in London; a celebration of life on Monday, May 26 in Lagos, and a service of songs on Tuesday, May 27 in Ibadan.

  Aside from being a gospel singer, Big Bolaji was an ordained minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he served for over 19 years. He was also known for his annual concert, ‘Turnitup With Big Bolaji,’ which he usually held in Ibadan.
