Potent Storm Brings Snow, Flood Threat To West

A tight storm system named Winter Storm Jett will force a potent branch of the pineapple express ashore across the West Coast, bringing heavy rain and snow across the region. The atmospheric river could bring a higher-end flood and mudslide threat to Los Angeles and neighboring communities that recently battled the Pacific Palisades and Eaton Fires. Places like Portland, Boise and Salt Lake City could see several inches of snow while others like San Francisco and Los Angeles will see heavy rain. Gusty winds aren’t as much of a threat in Southern California, but gusts could surpass 90 mph over the Sierra Nevada.
