BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Some of the most popular salons, spas and med-spas in Bucks County are teaming up with its customers to fight cancer during Bucks County Spa and Salon Self-Care Month.

Between now and June 6, 18 spas, salons and med-spas from throughout the county will be donating a portion of their sales to the Kin Wellness and Support Center, which supports cancer patients and their caregivers in Bucks County.

"The Bucks County Spa and Salon Self-Care Month was created to connect the residents of our Bucks County community with local businesses who provide amazing services while raising funds for the

non-profit Kin Wellness and Support Center," said Keith Fenimore, the executive director of the Kin Wellness Center. "The month-long program is a showcase for preeminent local spas, med-spas and salons to gain exposure to potential new clients, while allowing both new and existing clients to book an appointment and participate in supporting community members battling cancer."

Here's how it works.

When patrons book an appointment at one of the participating spas, med-spas or salons, a percentage of their treatment and/or product fee will benefit Kin Wellness and Support Center and local cancer patients, their caregivers and oncology healthcare workers. The program was created so local residents can transfer their self-care into care for local cancer patients.

Eighteen Bucks County salons and spas are taking part in this year's event including:

  • Mallow, Intentioned Skincare in Doylestown
  • Grand Cru Tatoo in Doylestown
  • The Drip Bar Doylestown
  • Bangz Salon in New Hope
  • Meraki Studio in Richboro
  • Nurture Spa in New Hope
  • Radiance Spa in Jamison
  • Joli Beautique in Doylestown
  • Serenity Day Spa & Wellness Center in Doylestown.

For those interested in booking an appointment for themselves, or perhaps as a Mother’s Day surprise, all participating spas, salons or med-spas can be found on Kin’s website and by clicking here. Patrons can click on any of the partner’s logos and be taken directly to their website.

"This unique month is structured in a way to ignite local business by offering incentives to locals to 'shop local' and give back at the same time," said Fenimore, who has organized the special fundraising month for the past three years.

According to Fenimore, spa and salon partners collectively raised thousands of dollars last year for Kin and the Bucks County cancer community.

Kin is an all-inclusive 5,000 square foot retreat, offering support, fitness, therapy, and integrative services. It's founding was inspired by Bucks County resident Corinne Sikora, who battled both brain and breast cancer. The center is free to Bucks County residents battling cancer regardless of where they are receiving treatment and welcomes caregivers as well. Kin also cares for oncology healthcare workers as part of its total 360-care model.

Free programs offered through Kin include nutrition, yoga, fitness, one-on-one counseling, support groups, workshops, massage, facials, reflexology, reiki, chiropractic, and acupuncture. Kin is a unique center that looks to satisfy the emotional, social, and physical needs of cancer patients. The success of Kin is made possible through generous donations from the local Bucks County community.

Kin’s mission is to help people find calm and peace and center themselves in a restorative environment. The non-profit strives to bring people to a place where they feel empowered to manage their diagnoses through treatment, recovery and beyond. Kin caresfor the patients, the caregivers and the healthcare workers. Kin is run and operated through the non-profit Main St. Missions Corp. Its official healthcare sponsors are Fox Chase Buckingham, Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic/St. Mary Medical Center and Grand View Health.
