A 39-year-old fugitive, Kabiru Oyedun, who escaped from the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos.

The arrest occurred on Wednesday, May 21, in the Ayobo area of Lagos.

The police said Oyedun had been on the run since a jailbreak occurred at the Ilesa facility.

The incident is part of an ongoing manhunt for escapees from the correctional centre.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed Oyedun’s arrest in the state to SaharaReporters on Friday.

SaharaReporters gathered that the Lagos State Comptroller of Corrections would take custody of the fugitive for onward transfer to the Osun State Correctional Service for further action.

Oyedun is confirmed to be one of the inmates who escaped during the recent jailbreak. Officials have indicated that investigations into the incident remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the prison breach.

The NCoS announced a N5 million reward for anyone who provides information leading to the recapture of the escaped inmates.
