Police, Jigawa to host school security stakeholders' forum
The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Jigawa State Government, will host a two-day stakeholders’ forum on school security to enhance safety measures in educational institutions.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, Shiisu Adam, on Monday, the forum, scheduled for March 6 and 7, 2025, aims to strengthen security resilience and integrate host communities in protecting schools.
Adam said the event will bring together key stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, government officials, traditional rulers, and security experts.
“We are committed to safeguarding the educational sector from potential threats and fostering a positive learning environment,” he stated.
The forum will feature expert presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and school protection squad (SPS) training.
“We believe that by working together, we can develop effective strategies for ensuring the safety and security of our educational institutions,” Adam added.
According to the statement, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State will open the event alongside the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Other guests expected to attend the forum include the Emir of Hadejia and Chairman of the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs, Dr Adamu Abubakar Maje, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 1 Headquarters Kano, Ahmed Ammani.
“The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, psc, and the National Coordinator, School Protection Squad (SPS), CP Abayomi Shogunle, will also be in attendance,” the statement added.
Adam stated that the forum is a significant step towards addressing the security challenges facing educational institutions in Jigawa State adding that “We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our children to learn and grow.”
The event will take place at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, New State Secretariat Complex, Dutse, Jigawa State, starting at 1000 hrs each day.
Adam therefore urged all stakeholders to attend the forum and contribute to the discussion on school security.
“Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our educational institutions are safe and secure.
“We believe that by working together, we can achieve great things and make Jigawa State a safer and more secure place for all,” he said.
The forum is expected to come up with recommendations on how to improve school security in Jigawa State.
