The incident occurred on June 21, causing extensive property damage before firefighters extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported.

Security sources confirm at least two suspects are in custody as preliminary findings indicate deliberate arson. Online footage showed sections of the residence engulfed in flames late Saturday. Ankrah was absent during the incident, with a source close to her describing her condition as “shaken but unharmed.”

The attack follows local opposition to Ankrah’s recent endorsement by President John Mahama. Some National Democratic Congress supporters in the constituency had previously protested her nomination two months ago, citing inadequate engagement with grassroots members.

A regional NDC source condemned the incident as “criminal and unacceptable,” noting the Ashanti Regional Security Council has been notified. The case occurs amid heightened political tensions in the Ashanti Region following the NDC’s return to national government.
