The Katsina State Police Command has intercepted 78 bags of suspected cannabis and arrested over 200 suspects for various crimes during April 2025.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the arrests include 25 for armed robbery, 15 for kidnapping, 30 for murder or culpable homicide and 3 for unlawful possession of firearms.

He said the police also recovered two locally-made guns, stolen vehicles and motorcycles, and rescued over 130 kidnapped victims. Also, 174 rustled animals were recovered.

In a related operation, police arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Sanusi Ahmed, for allegedly circulating counterfeit currency.

Aliyu said a search of his home uncovered 345 pieces of counterfeit $100 USD notes; 5 counterfeit 10,000 CFA notes and various criminal charms.

Ahmed is currently in custody as investigations continue to identify accomplices, he added.
