Police carry out reconstruction of A9 crash that killed woman days before Christmas

Ashleigh Watson was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident that took place on the A9 near Inshes, Inverness on Friday, December 20, 2024.

Emergency services were called to the crash involving a Citroen DS3 at around 1.40am where the 31-year-old died.

A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

On Monday, road policing officers confirmed a collision reconstruction was being carried out on the junction with the B9006 at Inshes.

Work will take place on the road and slip road southbound from around 8pm.

The reconstruction is set to include short road closures with the aim of keeping disruption for drivers to a minimum.

Officers thanked members of the public for their patience and understanding.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald of the Road Policing Unit said in December: “Our thoughts remain with Ashleigh’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our investigation into the circumstances is ongoing and I urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has any information to contact us.

“Any drivers with dashcam who were on the road around the time of the crash are asked to review their footage and please let us know if it contains anything that may be relevant to our enquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked contact us through quoting incident number 0232 of December 20.”
