In a statement on Sunday, Tochukwu Ikenga, police spokesperson in the state, said the suspect, identified as Samuel Eze, was arrested on July 6 by a joint patrol team.

Ikenga noted that the human part was recovered from the suspect and deposited at the morgue with investigations ongoing.

In a separate operation, Ikenga said officers attached to the rapid response squad rescued a kidnapped truck driver and recovered goods worth over N9.5 million.

The police spokesperson noted that the rescue was carried out at 12:45pm on July 4 following a tip-off.

He said three suspects, identified as Udegenyi Ugochukwu, 38; Anayochukwu Okonkwo, 47; and Good Odigili, 47; were arrested in connection with the crime.

“The suspects confessed that they diverted a truck loaded with custard powder meant for delivery in Asaba, Delta state,” the statement reads.

“They tied the driver in the bush and diverted the goods to Enugwu-Ukwu.”

Ikenga noted that the command also recovered a suspected stolen vehicle (a custom-coloured Toyota Sienna, with registration number 736 JP, with a ‘forum of accountants Delta state’ inscription) on July 5 while on patrol along Okpuno-Umuota village in Obosi.

He urged anyone with proof of ownership to visit the command for verification and possible collection.

The police spokesperson added that the command will continue its joint security patrols to curb insecurity in the state.
