The festival will include performances from some of Africa’s biggest artists such as Blu 3, Ssuna Ben, Winnie Nwagi, Aliddeki Brian, and comedian Salvado, who will be joined by hosts Sheilla Gashumba and Sheilla Salta.

The event promises to highlight Uganda’s unique cultural offerings while showcasing its attractions to a global audience.

This year’s POATE also marks the participation of IGC, a pioneering fashion label led by Katende Godfrey. IGC has been appointed the official fashion curator for the expo, bringing a strong focus on sustainable fashion and Ugandan heritage.

Their showcase will feature a collection of ten original outfits that highlight the journey of Lubugo (barkcloth), from traditional material to modern fashion, marking a bold statement of cultural pride and sustainability.

IGC’s participation in the event will extend beyond a simple fashion display. During the opening ceremony on May 21st, IGC will present a dynamic runway performance and dance, followed by a fashion exhibition running from May 21st to 23rd.

This exhibition will provide a visual feast for attendees, reflecting Uganda’s evolving fashion scene while paying homage to the country’s rich cultural heritage.

On the final day, IGC will take their curation to the next level with the “Culture Corner,” which will feature a runway show showcasing IGC’s Evolution of Lubugo collection and collaborative pieces from local designers supported by the British Council.

This immersive experience will allow attendees to explore Uganda’s fashion, arts, and crafts in a unique and engaging way.

The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2025 will be open to the public for free from May 21st to 23rd. However, tickets for the highly anticipated Music and Cultural Festival on May 24th are now available for purchase.

Ordinary tickets are priced at 20,000 UGX, while VIP access is available for 50,000 UGX. Tickets can be secured online at www.tagticketing.com, with more information available on www.talentafricagroup.com.

POATE 2025 is set to be a key moment in Uganda’s tourism and cultural calendar, underscoring the country’s commitment to showcasing its diverse heritage, creative industries, and sustainable tourism initiatives on a global stage.
