As the country marks Saba Saba Day,  Kisumu County has continued to remain calm, with residents going about their businesses as usual.

This marks the second time Kisumu residents have stayed away from nationwide demonstrations.

On June 25, 2025, no protests were witnessed in the county despite earlier expectations of Gen Z-led demonstrations to commemorate the anniversary of the June 25, 2024, uprising.

Kisumu’s absence from the Saba Saba protests has been attributed to factors such as youth disengagement and concerns over political exploitation.

Historical context and a desire for peace have also contributed to the calm.
