Hundreds of residents residing in Kenya Commercial Bank piece of land in Athi River fear being evicted in case they fail to pay promptly for plots they occupy.

The residents have been residing in the land previously owned by East Africa Portland Company (EAPC) before it changed to KCB to settle a loan.

Last year,KCB begun the land sale under regularization program giving the first priority the occupants including squatters.

Each plot owner was required to pay Sh 200,000 for registration and follow other set procedures awaiting to be issued with an offer price.

However,a fraction of home owners failed to honour terms and conditions prompting KCB agents to advertise the land in a public sale last week.

Dozens of homeowner’s fears evictions saying surveyors have erected beacons in the middle of their plots and their buildings have been marked.

They also cite police harassment to silence them claiming the prices are exorbitant pleading for a review.

However, the Project Manager on behalf of KCB said the entire 1,145 prime piece of land is up for grabs in a public sale.
