Perth weather: Severe thunderstorm detected near Mandurah, warning issued for Greater Perth

A weather warning was issued for Greater Perth after a severe thunderstorm was detected near Mandurah.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning at 11.10am on Tuesday, stating the storm was “likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding”.

“This thunderstorm is moving towards the southeast. It is forecast to affect Ravenswood and Pinjarra by 11.25 am and Meelon by 11.40 am,” the warning stated.

The warning for Greater Perth was cancelled at 12.05pm after the threat of a severe thunderstorm passed.

The BoM also issued as severe weather warning for people in parts of Lower West and South West districts.

“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Mandurah, Harvey, Pinjarra and Rockingham,” the warning stated.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises people in the warning area to do the following:
