AI search engine Perplexity has partnered with Firmly.ai to integrate the firm's agentic e-commerce technology into its platform. The integration, aimed at enhancing the native shopping experience for both consumers and merchants, will allow users to complete their shopping journey, from product discovery to secure transaction, without leaving the Perplexity platform.

The integration is expected to address latency issues and shorten the purchase funnel, potentially improving the consumer experience. Perplexity has reported a fivefold increase in shopping-intent queries since launching its AI shopping experience last year.

Chief Business Officer of Perplexity, Dmitry Shevelenko, said: "When we first launched our AI experience for shopping late last year, Perplexity took a leap towards transforming the way people shop online and increased the volume of shopping-intent queries 5x... Partnering with Firmly.ai enables us to achieve our vision even faster by making it effortless for merchants to join us and easier for more consumers to natively go from answers to actions within Perplexity."

The integration with Firmly.ai's API allows Perplexity to connect with any e-commerce merchant, enabling merchants to retain control over transactions, customer relationships, and data. This feature is expected to provide merchants access to millions of potential customers while maintaining their brand value.

Firmly.ai, headquartered in Seattle, WA, is focused on removing barriers in e-commerce, making it frictionless for merchants and consumers.
