Penn Highlands DuBois, doctor awarded for leadership & service
Penn Highland DuBois awards
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A local hospital in Clearfield County and one of its employees was honored Tuesday with some awards.
Penn Highlands DuBois received the Seven Seals Award for its leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve in the National Guard and Reserve forces.
Dr. Philip Vuocolo, who is the trauma medical for Penn Highlands DuBois, also received the Patriotic Employer Award.
Doctor Vuocolo earned the award for protecting freedom by supporting employee participation in the National Guard and reserve force and contributing to national security.
"The Navy has an unofficial slogan that says not self but country, I’ll spare you the Latin, not self but country. And I think that displays a certain amount of selflessness that we see in lots of our military members, but we also see the same selflessness in medical professionals,” Dr. Vuocolo said.
Both Penn Highlands and Doctor Vuocolo were nominated for the awards by Doctor Michelle Mouria, who is a board certified acute-care and trauma surgeon with Penn Highlands trauma services.
