Pac-12 Extends Media Partnership with CBS Sports

The Pac-12 Conference has solidified its future by extending its agreement with CBS Sports, making it the “primary long-term media partner” through the 2031 season. This significant deal, facilitated by Octagon, the Pac-12’s exclusive media rights advisor, and Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould, coincides with a major restructuring of the conference’s membership.

A key aspect of this new era for the Pac-12 is the addition of Gonzaga, set to join the league at the commencement of the 2026-27 campaign. The comprehensive media deal with CBS Sports outlines a robust broadcast schedule, ensuring widespread coverage for the conference’s premier events. This includes the annual football championship game, which will be broadcast on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+, alongside the annual men’s basketball tournament championship game, also available on both CBS and Paramount+.

Beyond championship events, the agreement guarantees a minimum of three regular season football games and at least three regular season men’s basketball games on CBS and Paramount+ each season. Additionally, football and men’s basketball games throughout the regular season will be aired on CBS Sports Network, with further details regarding these broadcasts to be announced at a later date. This new media arrangement is projected to significantly bolster the finances of member schools, with annual payments estimated to be between $7 to $10 million per school, as reported by Yahoo Sports.

While CBS Sports takes on a primary role, the Pac-12 is expected to announce additional television partners for the 2026 season later, with renewals with The CW Network and ESPN being strong possibilities, as these networks are already slated to broadcast Pac-12 games during the 2025 football season. The revamped Pac-12 conference will feature a new lineup of institutions: Gonzaga, Washington State Cougars, Oregon State Beavers, San Diego State Aztecs, Colorado State Rams, Utah State Aggies, Boise State Broncos, and Fresno State Bulldogs. There are also ongoing rumors that the Texas State Bobcats could become the final all-sports member needed to meet the NCAA's requirement of eight teams for all FBS leagues.

This reconfigured conference is not only financially stable but also competitively strong, particularly in men’s basketball. The new Pac-12 currently boasts the fourth-best average NET ranking among all collegiate men’s basketball leagues. Furthermore, an impressive seven out of its eight programs have successfully made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament at least once since 2021, with two teams even reaching the national championship game, underscoring the high caliber of play within the league.
