Last night, Willie Nelson’s roaming Outlaw Music Festival was set to stage at El Reno, Okla.’s Lucky Star Amphitheater before unforeseen circumstances forced a last-minute cancellation. While Bob Dylan, The Mavericks, Tami Neilson and the founding country legend’s Family band were booked for the festival’s only 10th anniversary celebration in Oklahoma, organizers disclosed that an extreme weather incident during their June 29 performance at Ridgedale, Mo.’s Thunder Ridge Nature Arena interrupted the tour’s momentum with damages to vital production elements.

“Unfortunately, much of the Outlaw Music Festival’s equipment and artists’ instruments were damaged and waterlogged, making their condition difficult to assess in time to accurately and safely use for tomorrow’s show,” a message posted to producers Blackbird Presents’ social channels reads. “The potential damage has halted the festival production as they recover and replace what’s necessary for the tour to resume. The tour looks forward to resuming in Austin on July 4.”

The Outlaw Music Festival’s next engagement will occur as planned on Friday at Austin’s Germania Insurance Amphitheater, where they’ll welcome The Avett Brothers for the first of three Lone Star State stagings. Following these shows, the rolling revue will progress through four more legs in the Southeast, Northeast and Midwest for a total of 20 further engagements through Sept. 19. On Friday, June 27, Bob Dylan’s set at the festival’s Memphis performance included a debut cover of Bo Diddley’s “I Can Tell.” Read more about that show here.
