Otumfuo speaks on war in DR Congo, Somalia, Sudan during King Mswati's visit
Otumfuo has advised African countries battling with war to lay down their arms
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on countries embroiled in conflict on the African continent to make peace reign.
He stated that the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Chad, and Sudan do not reflect well on the continent, as they stifle growth and development.
During King Mswati of Eswatini's visit to the Manhyia Palace on June 27, 2025, Otumfuo urged him to join forces with other leaders to work towards restoring peace in the affected countries.
"Your Majesty, in these challenging times, Africa needs a climate of peace and a spirit of brotherly understanding among our people. Therefore, we should send an ardent appeal to all combatants in conflicts across the continent to lay down their arms and engage in peaceful dialogue.
"We appeal for an end to the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sudan, and Chad. We call for an end to all hostile activities in Africa and urge wise leaders to prevail, facilitating the restoration of unity within the ECOWAS sub-region," he said as shared by Opemsuo Radio on X.
Otumfuo lamented the menace of instability in Africa, cautioning that it could have dire consequences for the continent for generations to come if not resolved soon.
"It should be clear to all combatants that there is no path to victory through violence, and that the persistence of violence only undermines the future destiny of our continent. Your Majesty, in the coming months, we will continue to work towards restoring peace and stability in the region," he added.
