Osun 2026: Adeleke not defecting to any party, remains in PDP - Spokesperson
Against the backdrop of Tuesday’s visit of Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, alongside his senior brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, and hip-hop act, David Adeleke, to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence, spokesperson for the governor, Mr. Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday said his principal is not decamping to any political party.
It is recalled that the pictures of the Adelekes’ visit to Tinubu, which surfaced on social media, had generated mixed reactions, fueling speculations in some quarters that the governor was perfecting moves to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the August 8, 2026 gubernatorial poll in Osun.
However, while reacting to the development, Rasheed said the speculation about Adeleke decamping to the APC was fake news, stressing that the governor remains in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement forwarded to journalists in Osogbo, he said, “Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is not defecting from the PDP to any political party.
The statement reads, “He (Adeleke) remains a bona fide member and leader of the PDP. The media speculation about likely or imminent defection is fake news. Governor Adeleke remains a member and leader of the PDP in Osun State.
“The visit by the Adeleke dynasty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a routine courtesy visit. Any reading of the defection agenda into the visit is mere fake news,” the statement clarified.
