Oman signed three memoranda of understanding with Belarus to boost cooperation in technology transfer and vehicle manufacturing, as both countries look to broaden industrial ties beyond traditional markets, Muscat Daily reported on July 3.

The agreements, signed in Muscat, pave the way for Belarusian automotive and smart technology firms to set foot in Oman and expand across the Persian Gulf and Africa.

Under the first deal, Karwa Motors and Belarus’ Amkodor agreed to set up a joint industrial and commercial framework to “tap into” Omani, GCC, and African markets.

“This opens doors for wider regional integration,” said Ibrahim Ali Al Balushi, CEO of Karwa Motors.

The second MoU, signed by Karwa Motors and Belarusian manufacturer MAZ, covers joint production and distribution of transport and specialised vehicles. It will create an integrated production line at Karwa Motors’ facility in Oman, transfer Belarusian technical know-how, and roll out training programmes to bolster Omani national cadres’ skills.

“These collaborations will ramp up our industrial capabilities,” Al Balushi said. The MoU also sets out plans for joint marketing initiatives across the region.

The third agreement was struck between Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC) and Belarusian digital solutions provider Delivery Software “Delivio”. It aims to deliver advanced software products in artificial intelligence, fintech, ICT, and automation to Oman and neighbouring markets.

“Together we will spearhead digital transformation,” said Eng Aziz Alhasani, ONEIC’s General Manager of Information Technology and E-Business, after signing with Delivio CEO Andrei Sudakov.
