Ohanaeze meets Southeast Caucus of House of Reps over national development

The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has met with the Southeast Caucus of the House of Representatives to seek ways to advance Igbo interests and national development.
The meeting, held at the Maitama Lodge of the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, recently marked a crucial step towards advancing Igbo interests and national development.
Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prince Okey Nwadinobi, disclosed that the organization’s leadership sought to establish a strong partnership with the House of Representatives on issues affecting the Igbo people and the nation at large.
“We are deeply pleased with the audience granted to us by the House caucus,” Prince Nwadinobi said.
Nwadinobi who represented the President General Senator John Azuta Mbata, who was absent due to unforeseen circumstances said “Our mission is to seek partnership and collaboration on issues of Igbo concern and national interest.”
The meeting provided an opportunity for Prince Nwadinobi who highlighted Senator Mbata’s short-term agenda, which includes: establishing professorial endowment chairs in seven universities across Igbo-speaking states to research Igbo history, language, and culture, reviewing the Ohanaeze Ndigbo constitution to ensure it remains relevant and effective, Upgrading the national secretariat to enhance the organization’s operational capacity, peace building and conflict resolution with various groups to promote harmony and understanding, Stakeholder Engagement across board to foster collaboration and cooperation.
Nwadinobi noted, “We urge the legislators to continue being good ambassadors of Ndigbo, irrespective of their party differences, in their quest for national development.”
Iduma Igariwey, leader of the Southeast Caucus, expressed gratitude to the Ohanaeze leadership for seeking collaboration. “We have no doubt that Senator Mbata’s presidency will mark a remarkable leap in the annals of the Igbo apex body,” he said.
Igariwey assured the delegation of the caucus’s commitment to effective representation, national development, and continuous engagement with Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
He emphasized the importance of Ohanaeze speaking with one voice and urged the new leadership to address the issue of rebellious groups making misleading statements on behalf of the organization.
