• Sinclair Inc. said veteran media and technology executive Jeff Blackburn has been appointed chairman and CEO of Tennis Channel. In this role, Blackburn will lead the network’s strategic growth as well as its expansion across digital, streaming and global platforms.
Blackburn joins Sinclair following a 24-year career at Amazon (1998-2022), most recently as svp-global media and entertainment. where he helped launch and manage properties like Prime Video, Amazon Studios, Twitch, and Amazon Music. The positions have been vacant since Tennis Channel and Ken Solomon parted ways this past September.
“Jeff’s appointment marks a pivotal step in our strategy to accelerate Tennis Channel’s growth and unlock long-term value across Sinclair’s portfolio,” Chris Ripley,, president and CEO, said via Sinclair.
• CBS Sports: The NBA is, yet again, looking to change the format of the All-Star Game: USA vs. World format.
"Our All-Star Game will return to NBC next season in the middle of their coverage of the Winter Olympics," league commissioner Adam Silver told The Athletic Monday. "Given the strong interest we've seen in international basketball competitions, most recently in last summer's Olympics in Paris, we're discussing concepts with the players association that focus on NBA players representing their countries or regions instead of the more traditional formats that we've used in the past." • CBS Sports: The NWSL has filed an application with U.S. Soccer to launch a Division II league in 2026 with the intention of furthering player development, marking the latest development in the evolving lower-league club landscape in women's soccer in the United States.
The NWSL has eight affiliated teams from its existing Division I league lined up for the inaugural season of the Division II league -- Bay FC, Kansas City Current, North Carolina Courage, NJ/NY Gotham FC, Orlando Pride, Racing Louisville, Seattle Reign and the Washington Spirit.

• The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers will play in the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game presented by Novartis in Canton, Ohio, July 31 in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium — adjacent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. NBC Sports will return as broadcast partner, airing the game live.
The Game will take place two days before the Enshrinement of the Class of 2025, which includes Chargers legend Antonio Gates. He and fellow class members Eric Allen, Jared Allen and Sterling Sharpe will be introduced on the field prior to the opening kickoff.

• In its continued effort to drive economic empowerment in under-resourced communities, the NBA Foundation has unveiled its 14th round of grants — its largest to date. Partnering with 82 nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and Canada, the Foundation is awarding $16.3 million to support workforce development across a broad range of industries, including criminal justice reform, creative arts, healthcare and STEM. Since its inception in 2020, the NBA Foundation has committed over $140 million in funding.
• CBS Sports: Five years ago, more than 4,400 Division I men's basketball players were legally and collectively paid a grand total of $0 in NIL earnings. That number is now promised to be in the hundreds of millions. A year ago, a handful of schools were able to easily clear $5 million. But now? That budget number has doubled — minimally.
These programs either have $10 million committed already or are easily capable of reaching that total in roster-building efforts by the end of this year's transfer cycle: Arkansas, BYU, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, North Carolina, St. John's and Texas Tech. (Full story here.)

• Social Change Fund United, founded by NBA icons Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul, has joined with Stackwell, a fintech platform “committed to expanding financial market access,” and the National Basketball Players Association Foundation (NBPA Foundation)” to drive meaningful economic impact in historically under-resourced communities.”
The SCFU Visionary Ventures Program is designed to support small businesses, piloting first in the Los Angeles Community with the goal to expand and scale across the U.S.
• Yahoo Sports: Paige Bueckers, fresh off her NCAA championship with UConn, has reportedly signed a three-year contract with the three-on-three league Unrivaled, As the No. 1 overall pick, Bueckers would make $78,831 in her first year in the WNBA, under the league's current rookie scale. That number would go up annually, with Bueckers earning $348,198 in total over her first four years in the league. Players in Unrivaled also receive equity in the league.
Bueckers signed an NIL deal with Unrivaled this year ahead of its inaugural season, becoming the first NCAA player to do so. (LSU's Flau'jae Johnson later signed a deal with the league as well.) Although she did not participate in the 2025 season, Bueckers planned to join the league after the end of her college career as a result of the deal.

• AP Sports: The NBA will not bring back its All-Star Game mini-tournament next season. Commissioner Adam Silver said (March 27) that the format used last month — a four-team tournament made up of 24 NBA All-Stars and another team of rookies and sophomores, all playing to a target score of 40 points — “was a miss.”
The game is shifting to NBC next season as part of the league’s new broadcast deal, and Silver said the league and the network are talking about what may work.

• Des Moines (Iowa) Public Schools will soon be home to four new soccer and basketball community courts courtesy of Musco Lighting and the Caitlin Clark Foundation. The courts will open later this year at Hiatt Middle School, Callanan Middle School, McCombs Middle School, and Weeks Middle School. The Musco Mini-Pitch System modular sports solution is designed to support soccer, basketball, and futsal, a faster-paced variant of soccer.
The Caitlin Clark Foundation is a "non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting and improving the lives of youth and their communities through education, nutrition, and sport – three strategic pillars Caitlin believes were foundational in her success."

• The NHL and NHL Players’ Assn. said the World Cup of Hockey is scheduled to return in February 2028. The fourth World Cup of Hockey (1996, 2004, 2016). Is being planned for North America and Europe with at least eight teams. The NHL, currently playing the 4 Nations Face-Off, is adding the World Cup to having players participate in the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics and 2030 French Alps Olympics.
“We couldn’t be more excited about making a reality Olympics-World Cups-Olympics-World Cups on a regular schedule of the best hockey players in the world representing their countries,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said via the league.

• The NFL Alumni Assn. and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Cancer Prevention and Control have launched "GEAR UP Against Cancer,” which aims to raise awareness about the impact of colorectal cancer, emphasize the importance of regular screenings, and create a deeper understanding of the unique needs of cancer survivors.
According to the CDC, colorectal cancer is a leading cause of cancer death among men and women in the United States.
• Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, has launched through his Foundation to Combat Antisemitism “Stand Up to Jewish Hate,” a $25 million multi-media campaign to “raise awareness nationwide about soaring incidents of antisemitism online and in person.”
