NPA, Dangote deepen partnership, target $7m revenue
Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) have deepened their partnership to expand export operations in the country, targeting $7 million in revenue.
Speaking, yesterday, during a courtesy visit to the NPA headquarters in Lagos, the President of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Aliko Dangote, explained that as the biggest customer of the NPA, it is important that interaction between the NPA and DIL was sustained.
Dangote’s said the size of its operation at Lekki alone was going to be almost 240 ships of crude, with each ship carrying one million barrels of crude.
He said his company would have products requiring 600 ships a year, adding that the company would also have its fertiliser products loading almost eight ships.
On exports, Aliko Dangote explained that efforts were underway to expand export products beyond Nigeria. Dangote said in the next two years, the company would be exporting nearly 16,000 tonnes of fertiliser, which would equate to roughly $6.5 million to $7 million in revenue entering the country daily.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of NPA, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, explained that Dangote’s visit to the authority was to show appreciation for the dividends of the Federal Government’s One Stop Shop policy on “Naira for Crude” deals.
He said the policy, which started on October 1, 2024, had processed and operated over 57 vessels every month. According to him, the projected volume that Dangote was looking at per annum was 600 vessels.
