Now, Record Number of Tourists Expected in July as Air Travel and Demand Surge in Brazil: What You Need To Know - Travel And Tour World
Monday, July 7, 2025
Brazil gears up for anniversary-year tourist record in July 2025 since airlines will offer 11 million plus seats in 68,300 domestic flights. This indicates 6% rise in capacity in same period in prior year, reported as per study by ABEAR (Brazilian Association of Airlines), based on data provided by National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Rise in capacity reflects continued recovery and growth in the country’s tourism sector as well as verifies dramatic increase in traveling demand in the domestic and international marketplace.
The surge in flight availability is indicative of a flourishing Brazilian tourism sector, driven by strong domestic travel and an influx of international visitors. As the country heads into the winter holiday season, a period traditionally marked by significant tourism activity, the uptick in flights signals a high level of interest in Brazil’s diverse destinations.
The air network across Brazil is expanding rapidly, with key cities such as Rio de Janeiro (+10%), São Paulo (+5%), and Brasilia (+6.4%) seeing significant increases in available flights. Particularly in the Northeast, cities like Recife, Fortaleza, and Salvador are witnessing increased demand, along with a notable rise in routes to and from Bahia (+17%) and Paraíba (+20%).
Gol Linhas Aéreas, one of Brazil’s largest airlines, is leading the charge, announcing more than 27,500 landings and takeoffs during the high winter season, an increase of 10% compared to July 2024. With 4.9 million domestic seats on offer, Gol is concentrating much of its capacity at Rio de Janeiro’s Galeão Airport, where it will manage 70% of the country’s internal flight supply. The airline has also introduced new routes to popular destinations like Jericoacoara, São Luís, Foz do Iguaçu, and Caldas Novas, responding to the rising demand for leisure and adventure tourism across Brazil.
LATAM Airlines Brazil is also reinforcing its capacity, with over 1,300 extra flights scheduled between June 23 and August 10, 2025. LATAM estimates that it will carry up to 4.1 million passengers during this period, offering 23,100 domestic flights. The airline has launched seasonal routes, such as direct flights between São Paulo’s Congonhas Airport and Aracaju, along with expanded services to Porto Seguro, Belo Horizonte, and Jericoacoara, among others.
As the air network expands, Brazil’s major tourist destinations are preparing for an influx of visitors. Rio de Janeiro, one of the country’s most iconic cities, is set to welcome 1.1 million tourists in July, a 20% increase from 2024. This surge in visitors is expected to have a significant economic impact, contributing approximately R$ 2.5 billion to the local economy.
Rio’s international airport operator, Rio Gogaleão, anticipates a 14.7% increase in passenger traffic, projecting the movement of 1.5 million passengers during the peak travel period. This reflects the growing appeal of Rio de Janeiro as a destination for both domestic and international travelers.
Another major highlight is the resort town of Olímpia in São Paulo state, which is expected to attract over 500,000 visitors during the winter season. Known for its thermal water parks, Olímpia is emerging as a premier destination for family leisure tourism, with an impressive hotel occupancy rate of 66.7%. Its continued popularity underscores the importance of regional tourism in contributing to Brazil’s overall travel growth.
The continued expansion of flight routes, particularly in the Northeast and other popular regional destinations, signals a shift in the preferences of Brazilian tourists. Cities like Salvador, Fortaleza, and Recife are benefiting from an increase in domestic travel, driven by the growing appeal of sun and beach destinations. The increased flight offerings are making these regions more accessible, boosting tourism and supporting local economies.
In addition to established tourist hotspots, lesser-known destinations like Jericoacoara and São Luís are gaining traction. These areas offer a mix of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and unique attractions that are attracting both domestic and international travelers seeking new, off-the-beaten-path experiences.
As Brazil prepares for a high-demand tourist season this winter, the country’s aviation and tourism industries are well-positioned for continued growth. The expansion of air routes, combined with Brazil’s ongoing investments in tourism infrastructure, ensures that the sector will remain competitive and appealing to travelers seeking diverse and affordable vacation experiences.
With increased investments in domestic and international tourism routes, Brazil is strengthening its position as a leading travel destination in Latin America. As the country’s tourism sector continues to recover from the challenges of recent years, the summer of 2025 looks to be a pivotal moment for the industry, with positive growth in both domestic tourism and international visitors.
Brazil’s tourism sector is registering all-time demand as the country approaches a healthy and busy winter holiday season. With 11 million plus domestic flight seats, increased capacity in the air, and broad diversification in new marketplaces, Brazil is cementing itself as one of the greatest destinations for domestic and foreign tourists alike. Main cities like Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Salvador are preparing themselves for massive tourism injections, and emerging destinations like Olímpia and Jericoacoara are growing in popularity. As Brazil continues investing in tourist amenities and constructs increased air connectivity, prospects look favorable for the country’s travel market.
