Nike to Raise Prices, Return to Selling on Amazon

Nike is preparing to increase prices on various products starting next week and will also resume selling its products on Amazon, according to media reports. These changes come as President Donald Trump's tariffs disrupt global supply chains and affect retailers' profits. Nike sources a significant portion of its footwear from China and Vietnam.

The company will raise prices on adult apparel and equipment by $2 to $10. Footwear priced between $100 and $150 will see a $5 increase, CNBC reported. Nike's return to Amazon, after a six-year absence, aims to regain market share from newer competitors amid a turnaround led by CEO Elliott Hill. Neither Nike nor Amazon have commented on the matter.

Shoes costing more than $150 will have their prices increased by $10, while products priced below $100 will not be affected. Nike's Air Force 1 shoes, priced at $155, are exempt from the price increase, according to CNBC sources. The company will maintain current prices for children's products, especially with the back-to-school shopping season approaching.

Nike's products on Amazon are currently sold by independent merchants. Nike stopped selling on Amazon in 2019 after two years, shifting its focus to sales on its own websites and in physical stores. Amazon has notified some of these merchants that they will be banned from selling certain Nike products starting July 19, as Nike will be working with Amazon directly, according to the Information.

German sportswear brand Puma has also stated that it has reduced shipments from China to the U.S. and may increase prices in the U.S. due to tariffs.
