The Nigerian military has said its troops have eliminated three prominent leaders of the Boko Haram and the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) in fierce gunbattles in Mallam Fatori and Buratai areas of Borno State.
The eliminated leaders are identified as; Amir Abu Ali, Amir Ibunu, and Amir Abu Waldume.
According to reports, the military operation was carried out with precision and determination, resulting in the deaths of the three high-profile terrorists.

In a post shared on Nigerian Army's official X handle on Thursday afternoon, the operation was carried out by Troops of Operation HADIN KAI which also neutralised scores of the terrorists in the early hours of Thursday 5 June 2025.
"Troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralise scores of BokoHaram/ISWAP terrorists in Mallam Fatori and Buratai early hours of Thursday 5 June 2025.
"Three prominent Boko Haram/ISWAP leaders Amir Abu Ali, Amir Ibunu, and Amir Abu Waldume eliminated in Mallam Fatori and Buratai fierce gunbattles," the statement partly read.
The elimination of the top Boko Haram/ISWAP leaders is a significant blow to the terrorist group, which has been wreaking havoc in Nigeria for over a decade.
