Nigerian Army closes NADCEL 2025 with ceremony in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army concluded activities marking its 162nd anniversary on Sunday with the Grand Finale of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2025 at Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna State.

The event, which brought together military personnel, dignitaries, and members of the public, featured a range of ceremonial and operational displays including a military parade, file past, combat demonstrations, and a tour of static equipment display stands highlighting research and development achievements.

The ceremony also included the presentation of the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Awards to outstanding personnel, alongside the distribution of Toyota Hilux vehicles to Army Warrant Officers.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was represented at the event by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima. Other dignitaries present included former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon; Governor of Kaduna State Senator Uba Sani, CON; representatives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives; Minister of Defence; Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, OFR; Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, NAM; other service chiefs; and past chiefs of Defence and Army Staff.

The week-long celebration leading up to the finale featured a variety of events, including Jumu’at prayers, interdenominational church services, press briefings by the Chief of Army Staff, commissioning of civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) projects across the country, public speaking engagements, a golf tournament, an official NADCEL lecture, a media parley, and a gala night.

NADCEL 2025 was themed around showcasing the operational readiness, achievements, and civil engagements of the Nigerian Army as it continues to reposition itself for national defence and development.
