The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will begin the payment of 20% arrears owed to its staff, dating back to January 2025.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, confirmed that the arrears were included in the Authority’s 2025 budget.
He noted that the proposal had been approved by both the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the Ministry of Finance.
Darlas assured NIA staff that administrative processes were underway to ensure swift disbursement of the funds.
“Yesterday, the Ministry of Finance, led by Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, acknowledged receipt of the letter and promised to fast-track all necessary procedures and forward it to the Controller and Accountant General so that staff can receive their 20% arrears dating back to January. I want to assure the staff of the National Identification Authority that their 20% will be paid,” he stated.
