Eulogies poured forth, as the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), alongside prominent figures from the financial and corporate sectors, gathered at the NGX Group House for an Afternoon of Tributes and Special Closing Gong Ceremony in honour of the late Dr. Pascal G. Dozie.

The event, rich in emotion and reflection, celebrated a man whose visionary leadership, principled integrity, and institution-building legacy left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s economic landscape.

Dozie, former President of the Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), was remembered not only as a pioneering entrepreneur and economist but as a steward of ethical governance and strategic foresight.

Chairman of NGX Group, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga opened the ceremony by hailing Dozie as a pillar of progress whose tenure marked a turning point for the NSE, helping to transform it into a credible and globally respected institution.

“He was more than a leader, he was a builder of legacies, a quiet force behind many of the institutions that define Nigeria today,” Kwairanga said.

Chairman of MTN Nigeria Plc, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, spoke of his efforts to instil professionalism in the private sector.

Gabriel Idahosa of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry described him as a man of unshakeable principle whose influence guided national development.

Former NSE Council President Dr. Raymond Obieri shared memories of a leader who provided clarity in moments of uncertainty and purpose in times of change.

Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Limited, Ahonsi Unuigbe called on the audience to keep Dozie’s legacy alive through steadfast commitment to transparency and innovation.

Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Olaniyi Yusuf, described him as a foundational figure and moral compass for Nigeria’s quest for a globally competitive economy.

Adding a deeply personal touch,  Uzoma Dozie reflected on his father’s inner strength and humility, recalling how his presence shaped both people and institutions with quiet grace and profound impact.

“His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit remains with us in the values he stood for, and the lives he touched,” he said.

NGX Group CEO, Temi Popoola emphasised the depth of  Dozie’s contributions, describing him as a mentor, a reformer, and a true nation-builder whose influence would resonate for generations. “To his family, we say thank you for sharing him with Nigeria. His light continues to guide us,” he said.

Other speakers, including  Emmanuel Ikazoboh,  Oscar Onyema, Mrs. Elizabeth Ebi,  Olufemi Akinsanya, and Frank Aigbogun, echoed similar sentiments, reaffirming the breadth and depth of Dr. Dozie’s impact on Nigeria’s economic evolution.

The ceremony culminated in the symbolic sounding of the Closing Gong, a gesture not of farewell, but of continuity. It was a stirring reminder that while Pascal Dozie may have departed, the values he championed integrity, excellence, vision, and service will continue to echo through the corridors of Nigeria’s corporate and financial institutions for years to come.
