NFL draft: Cam Ward has high praise for Browns at NFL combine - Yahoo Sports
As we have hit the mid-point of NFL combine week, Cleveland Browns fans and the rest of the NFL media finally got to hear from Miami's Cam Ward and the other quarterbacks at the podium.
Self-aware of where he is ranked in the class and who is atop the NFL draft board, Ward spoke highly of the teams at the top. This included a detailed outline of praise for the Browns. While he will not throw at the combine, Ward confirmed that he met with the Browns in Indianapolis and stated it was a quality meeting. Here is what the potential top pick in the NFL draft had to say about meeting with the Browns' brass at the combine:
"It went real good being able to meet with the GM, finally meet the quarterback coach in person, the OC as well."
Ward then went on to comment about how the Browns operate offensively and how he could potentially fit in around the playmakers who already exist on the roster:
"They do an unbelievable job on offense getting people open. They’ve got an unbelievable offensive line. Jerry Jeudy's one of the best receivers in the league, so if I'm hoping to go there, I know it'll work out good."
Giving his elevator pitch on his way off the podium, Ward spoke with confidence in the body of work he put on the field throughout his time at Incarnate Word-to-Washington State-to-Miami. He's ready for the opportunity:
"The tape says everything I believe and I'm honest to that... But I think just what separates me from everybody is the way I approach it, the mindset that I have going onto the field each-and-every game and I mean coming from my journey, not a lot of people can do that and so I just think it shows the work that I'm willing to put in whether I go first round or second round. At the end of the day, that draft pick don't mean nothing. It's all about establishing yourself once you get the opportunity."
We still have two months until the NFL draft takes place and the Browns currently hold pick No. 2. Will it be Ward, Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, or will they go with the best player available when they come on the clock?
