Neymar has rejoined his boyhood club Santos after his Al-Hilal contract was terminated.

The Brazilian played seven times for the Saudi Pro League after joining them in 2023 from Paris Saint Germain for $94 million.

The former Barcelona star will see a significant reduction in his salary at the Brazilian giants.

According to BBC Sport, the 32-year-old is expected to sign a short-term deal with Santos, 12 years after his last match for the club.

"Al Hilal and Neymar Jr. have agreed to terminate the player’s contract by mutual consent," Al Hilal wrote in a Tweet.

The termination ends an uneventful period in Neymar's career. He was expected to bring more eyes to the league but an ACL injury weeks after joining the club destroyed that.

Since sustaining the injury in October 2023, Neymar has played just seven games for the Saudi Arabian giants, scoring one goal.

He tore his ACL while on international duty with Brazil in October 2023, shortly after his record-breaking move to Al-Hilal.

Neymar returned to action in October last year but suffered a setback. He never played for the club again.

"To everyone at Al Hilal, to the fans, Thank you !! I gave everything to play and I wish we enjoyed better times on the pitch together," Neymar wrote on Instagram.
"To Saudi, thank you for giving me and my family a new home and new experiences. I now know the real Saudi and have friends for life. I always felt your love and passion for the game. I will be following your journey ahead as a club and a country towards 2034."

According to a report by The Sun Neymar earned a staggering £1.6 million per week at Al-Hilal, a figure that rose to £2.5 million. His salary will be reduced by 99% at Santos.

At the Brazilian club, he will make just over £30,000 per month. His image rights could reportedly pump that number up significantly. His monthly wage could hit almost a million British pounds.

In 2024 Neymar earned around 100 million dollars despite playing just 42 minutes.

He won six titles with Santon, including the Copa Libertadores in 2011, per ESPN.

"It is the time (to come back), Neymar. It is time for you to come back to your people. To our home, to the club in our hearts," Santos president Marcelo Teixeira said.

Neymar is Brazil's record goal scorer and is hoping to play at the 2026 World Cup in North America.

earlier reported that Neymar claimed Kylian Mbappe was jealous of Lionel Messi at PSG.

The trio played at PSG for two seasons winning two league titles but falling short in the Champions League.
