New 'Superman' Trailer Sees Man Of Steel Sit Down For Interview With Lois Lane

DC Studios has unveiled a new trailer for James Gunn’s Superman, which soars into theaters worldwide via Warner Bros in July.

David Corenswet dons the cape this time as Superman, who must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way, he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.

In the trailer, we see Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane sitting down for an interview with the Man of Steel, calling some of his recent actions into question.

“Recently, you’ve come under a lot of fire,” says Lois. “Today, the Secretary of Defense said he was going to look into your actions.”

Superman insists that he “stopped a war,” with Brosnahan reframing this as him illegally entering a country without consulting the President.

“You seemingly acting as a representative of the United States will cause more problems around the world,” she says, to which he replies, “I wasn’t representing anybody except for me, and doing good.”

Still, Lois says, “I would question myself in the same situation and consider the consequences.”

But Superman wouldn’t do anything different, as “people were going to die.”

Later in the trailer, Pa Kent (Pruitt Taylor Vince) tells Clark, “Your choices, your actions, that’s what makes you who you are.”

Then, there’s villain Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), who opines that Superman is not a man, but an it, one that has “somehow become the focal point of the entire world’s conversation” — something he cannot accept.

Others in the cast of Superman include Edi Gathegi (For All Mankind), Anthony Carrigan (Barry), Nathan Fillion (Guardians of the Galaxy films), Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus), Skyler Gisondo (Licorice Pizza), Sara Sampaio (At Midnight), María Gabriela de Faría (The Moodys), Wendell Pierce (Selma), Alan Tudyk (Andor), Pruitt Taylor Vince (Bird Box) and Neva Howell (Greedy People).

DC Studios heads Peter Safran and Gunn produced the pic, which Gunn directed from his own script, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Exec producers include Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars Winther.

Superman will be released internationally on July 9, hitting theaters and IMAX in the U.S. on July 11. Watch the new trailer above.
