Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado premieres on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, on both Paramount+ and Nickelodeon in the United States. Shortly after, it will stream around the world. But we're getting our first look at some images.

It's a live-action film about Dora and her friends as they make their way through the dangers of the Amazon jungle. They're searching for the ancient treasure of Sol Dorado to stop the bad guys from getting to it first.

In the movie, the world's greatest explorer is played by 16-year-old Samantha Lorraine. Jacob Rodriguez stars as Diego, Dora's 17-year-old cousin. Of course, Boots is also in the movie, voiced by Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias.

The movie is just the kick-off to a bigger launch for the Dora franchise, known as “The Great Dora Fiesta.”

Dora the Explorer first debuted on Nickelodeon on August 14, 2000. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the historic franchise, the brand is launching "The Great Dora Fiesta." The party will feature a wide variety of new "content and experiences for kids and families."

The live-action movie isn't the only thing debuting on July 2. The same day, an hour-long special of the animated preschool series DORA debuts on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon. The special focuses on Dora's cousin Diego, voiced by Kai Edgar. In "Dora & Diego: Rainforest Rescues," fans will find out how Diego met his best friend, Baby Jaguar.

Also on July 2, the third season of DORA will start streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in the United States, as well as internationally, where it is available. This season includes a birthday-themed episode that will also run on Nickelodeon on Friday, August 15, 2025. That date coincides with the actual week of Dora's 25th anniversary. There are 26, 11-minute episodes in season three, and DORA has already been renewed for season four, coming later this year.

There's also one more big content roll-out: Magic Mermaid Adventures (working title), four never-before-seen episodes, are heading to the big screen. The screening event debuts in more than 20 markets this fall. Around that time, we will also see a new Dora's Mermaid Adventures podcast and accompanying YouTube series.

Finally, there's even more Dora to stream as part of the ExploraDora Collection. That includes the first two seasons of DORA, as well as the original Dora the Explorer series, and other content from the storied franchise now on Paramount+.

The Dora brand goes well beyond cinemas and screens, though. There are several initiatives related to "The Great Dora Fiesta" happening as well.

Dora's appeal is wide-reaching. The character crosses social, racial, and language boundaries. According to the news release, the series is seen in 150 countries and is translated into 32 languages. For these reasons and more, Dora has been a powerhouse for a quarter century and has already proved her staying power.
