Netflix's 'Trainwreck: Poop Cruise' Documentary Is a Mess

Published 13 hours ago6 minute read

The new anthology series on explores fascinating and predominantly shocking topics, but its latest release, , feels like a terrible fever dream. As the title already beautifully reveals, this wild documentary is about the poop cruise that was the subject of a media bloodbath in 2013. When a cruise ship, the Carnival Triumph, went out to sea, spirits were high. Passengers were ready to enjoy their four-day-long vacation, but the cruise ship didn't return with the same positive energy and party vibes. Everything seemed to go fine for the first few days, as the buffet was constantly replenished, the entertainment program was amazing, and the mood was great.

It was a perfect vacation, until suddenly a fire broke out in one of the engine rooms, resulting in a permanent electricity cut that left 4,000 passengers without working toilets. . Trainwreck: Poop Cruise is 95% repetitive complaints about how (and where) to go number 2, while completely leaving out the actual issue and disturbing fact this bizarre event unveiled. Let's unravel it.

It's far from calming when alarms go off in the middle of the night on a ship, and it's no surprise that the passengers on the Carnival Triumph immediately thought of all the movies about the Titanic. There wasn't an iceberg causing danger, but they certainly never thought they would be stuck on a boat overflowing with urine and more. The docuseries on Netflix revealed that the crew attempted to find solutions after the toilets stopped working.

The crew suggested using the showers as a replacement and doing number 1 there, but number 2 was a bigger issue. However, the best plan the crew members came up with was to use the red biohazard bags. Passengers were supposed to conduct their business, close their bags, and leave them in a designated bin in the hallway, where they would then be collected and disposed of. A solid plan, if people had listened, but the majority simply could not believe what they were asked to do, and so the Carnival Triumph disaster began.

Netflix Viewers Can't Look Away From 'Trainwreck' Trio Dominating the Streaming Charts

The three popular docs in the 'Trainwreck' anthology revisit Astroworld, the Poop Cruise, and the Woodstock '99 festival.

Instead of using the biohazard bags and neatly disposing of them, some people went rogue and created literal "poop lasagna," as a crew member called them, on bathroom floors or continued to defecate in the non-functioning toilets. At this point, all that one can wonder is what is wrong with people? The complete disgust of doing your business in a biohazard bag seems painfully ridiculous when looking at how disgusting the situation truly turned because of this unnecessary behavior. Arguably, the entire event at the center of this questionable documentary could have ended up at least a bit more hygienic and neater if passengers had simply followed the personnel's suggestions.

Naturally, no one wants to defecate in a bag, but logically, the biohazard bags were a practical solution that might have helped prevent the massive mess and stench. The sewage water, overflowing toilets, urine coming out of the shower, and everything just seeping through the walls are a whole other story and issues that were simply unavoidable with a power outage.

While the wildest documentary of the Trainwreck trio shed light on the wild red bag issue (or the issue that was being made out of it), it only briefly touched on the actual insanity that unfolded on the deck of the Carnival Triumph. As the cabins started to overflow with sewage water and the temperature under deck continued to rise without the AC working, passengers decided to stay on deck. . They grabbed blankets to build forts, creating whole "tent cities" and even went so far as to steal chairs from other groups.

The blatant disrespect is easily the most outrageous part that should have been highlighted much more in this bizarre documentary. Once again, a difficult situation revealed the true nature of some people. The ugliest side of humanity came to the surface. Instead of helping each other and trying to work through a terrible situation as a united front, some people completely lost sight of what it means to be human and instead treated each other like trash. That is much, much more disgusting than defecating in a biohazard bag. If someone is embarrassed to do a number 2 in a bag, but at the same time treats people with complete disrespect and isn't embarrassed about that, then maybe a reality check is urgently needed.

Netflix's 'Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy' Reveals the Shocking Truth Behind the Deadly Music Festival

Travis Scott is known for hosting a wild crowd during his concerts, but things took a deadly turn during his Astroworld festival.

In an attempt to ease the temper of the unhappy passengers, the bar was opened, and alcoholic drinks were given out for free. Of course, because, as it is generally known, fighting fire with fire allegedly works. Duh. Jokes aside. . As should have been expected, the passengers on board excessively consumed alcohol with the goal of, at least, keeping the party from the previous days going and forgetting about the uncomfortable situation they were in, but, alas, it only got more uncomfortable from there.

Some people started breaking things, throwing poop bags overboard and accidentally hitting others with them, eventually fighting with each other. Overall, the poop cruise could have been straight out of a movie. Keep in mind that there were children on board, yet some people still failed to behave like decent human beings.

This completely unbelievable Netflix documentary focuses on an event that received extensive media coverage, but for the wrong reasons. How can the uproar regarding the red bags and lack of overflowing buffets in an emergency be so loud, the reaction so furious, when the crew members were trying to come up with solid solutions and improve the guests' difficult situation?

A complaint about any of that seems ridiculous, to put it mildly. Sure, the main topic is the poop cruise and the consequences of the power outage were far from enjoyable, but the real ugly part is how some people decided to handle things in an egotistical way. Trainwreck: Poop Cruise revisits a few smelly days in cruise ship history, but it somehow also proves how twisted society can be in uncomfortable situations. .
