In a tweet on Sunday, February 9, Havi said the recent High Court ruling, which declared Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition as the majority party in the National Assembly, was a clear sign that Ruto could be facing difficult times.

According to Havi, the move by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to support Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment was suspicious.

Havi added that the president should pray hard so that former prime minister Raila Odinga wins the Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship seat.

He suggested that Ruto's political troubles would be made worse if Raila loses the AUC bid in the elections slated for February 15.

"We told President William Ruto that the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua was a preparatory act for his eventual impeachment by ODM, but he never listened. The following weeks and months will be nights of long swords. It will be more calamitous if Raila Odinga loses the AU election," Havi said.

Elsewhere, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, a close ally of President William Ruto, said there are mistakes the head of state cannot get away with.

Sudi outlined the conditions for Ruto's removal from office through impeachment.

Speaking on Tuesday, February 4, the MP said Ruto would be impeached if he began dividing Kenyans along ethnic lines.

He said the country did not come to a standstill when former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua was removed, and the same would happen if Ruto were ousted.

He said impeachment does not indicate hatred but rather that the individual is unfit for the office they were elected to.

Sudi argued that Kenyans would eventually understand why Gachagua had to be removed from office.

He claimed Gachagua was removed from office for allegedly inciting Kenyans and promoting divisive politics.

At the height of Gachagua's impeachment process, some Kenyans argued that since he and Ruto were elected as a pair, both should leave office.

In response, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa addressed the issue, explaining why Ruto and his former deputy, Gachagua, could not be impeached at the same time.

He argued that it was impossible, noting that even in counties where governors and their deputies are elected together, impeachment motions are typically filed against only one.

Barasa said this practice ensures the county retains a leader even if one is impeached, and the same principle applies to the country.

Constitutional lawyer Bobby Mkangi said that although the two were elected together, each should be evaluated individually based on their performance.
