NDC Canada Chapter congratulates Dr Dora Edu-Buandoh on High Commissioner role
Dr Dora Edu-Buandoh has been appointed as Ghana's new High Commissioner to Canada
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Canada Chapter has extended warm congratulations to Dr Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh following her appointment as Ghana’s new High Commissioner to Canada.
Describing the moment as both proud and significant, the NDC Canada Chapter said Dr Edu-Buandoh’s appointment represents not only a milestone in her distinguished career but also a strengthening of the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Ghana and Canada.
Dr Edu-Buandoh, a seasoned academic and former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, is widely respected for her leadership, mentorship, and contributions to Ghana’s educational and governance landscape.
According to the Chapter, her deep expertise in governance, education, and public administration positions her as a strong advocate for Ghana’s interests on the international stage.
“This appointment is a testament to her lifelong commitment to excellence, and to the Government of Ghana’s trust in visionary, values-driven leadership for our country’s diplomatic missions,” the group said in a statement.
The NDC Canada Chapter expressed confidence that Dr Edu-Buandoh’s tenure would create new opportunities for collaboration between Ghana and Canada, particularly in education, trade, agriculture, agrobusiness, culture, technology, and innovation.
They further noted that Dr Edu-Buandoh’s leadership was especially inspiring for the Ghanaian diaspora in Canada.
“Her appointment is not just symbolic; it is inspirational. It reminds us of the vital role that women continue to play in leading Ghana forward and shaping how we are seen around the world,” the Chapter said.
The NDC members in Canada also called for closer engagement between the Ghana High Commission and the Ghanaian diaspora, which they described as vibrant, growing, and ready to contribute.
“We believe there is great potential to work together in ways that benefit all, whether through youth initiatives, cultural programs, community empowerment, or diaspora investment,” the statement added.
The Chapter warmly welcomed Dr Edu-Buandoh, emphasising Canada’s culture of inclusivity and partnership and reaffirming their full support for her work.
